Looking for advice.
I live 300+ miles from both mine and my husband's family. We started talking about my little one's first birthday, and my sister in laws have made it clear that they will NOT travel down to us. In their defense, they each have two daughters and it is a long drive. And my family is willing to come down here, but would be so mad if I chose to have it by my in laws.
so now I'm stuck deciding, do I throw a birthday party here, near them or near my mom's? (our family's live 2.5 hours apart from each other).

I can totally relate but at the end of the day its your baby's birthday and you just plan what's best for you and your baby. Those who want to celebrate will be there :-) enjoy yourself and your baby will too!

Use the money you'd spend on a party and go on vacay with your baby and partner! 😃 that should solve the problem with the 2 families and you'll create memories and possibly a new tradition

Would it be possible to do something small on his side the weekend before and some thing small on your side the weekend of or the weekend after? This way everyone gets to see the baby, it's not over crowded and nobody gets left out? Either that or I would say if you wanna see the baby, you come to us. It's not exactly fair for you to have to cater to everyone else's needs. Why should you have to drive all the way there when they aren't willing to do the same.

Why not do it in the middle of your in laws? This way everyone has to travel. You could stay a few days before the party near one side of the family, and a few days after by the otherside
