I do a mix of both with my boys. I started weaning Morgan at 6months & Max at 4 1/2months. I didn't give Max any finger foods until he was almost 6months though.

@laylalou, I use a mix of both too, started Florence at 15 weeks as I couldn't fill her up in milk and she had reflux so was advised would be better for her. She only has veg and fruit purées though no finger food. Although my homemade stuff is thicker consistency and she loves it x
