I had this exact conversation last night with my SO. We were going out and I spent an hour fixing my hair and putting on make up. He grabbed a goofy graphic shirt and cut off shorts. I said I was disappointed that he stopped trying and if he wants the best from me I want him to try too. Men shouldn't expect your best if they can't do the same.

@motherotter, agreed!! I have never been a romantic person but I have stepped outside my box and did a lot of different things for him that I would normally not do. I felt I could at least try you know. But like I said it's like he never can do anything for me. I'm not a materialistic person whatsoever not even into getting my hair and nails done (I'm a tomboy still) but I do out fourth the effort at least. And that's all I want him to do is at least show that he's trying, but I can't even get that. It just breaks my heart. I wanna feel special and important.

I think people get comfortable and forget relationships take work to keep your spouse interested and that goes both ways @shawan1981, just tell him how your feeling and how you want him to feel cared for but you do also.

We've had multiple conversations about this. For some reason it just doesn't sink in. He's a great guy and a wonderful dad. I just wish for once he would really take time to hear me. I'm not giving up though cause I know there's things I need to work on as well. But I'm praying God intervene and helps him see himself and see that I'm just not as happy as I know he can make me.
