Does swaddling your baby when they are sleeping contribute to SIDS? Does any of you mommies use a monitor to detect breathing while they sleep?

20 seconds. It's normal for infants to have short (5-10 seconds) periods of apnea while they're sleeping. 20 seconds is long enough that it won't alarm unnecessary but short enough that simply waking the baby is enough to restart breathing.

I felt the same way when my daughter was new so I got this monitor to put under the mattress that will sound an alarm if there is no movement (breathing) for 20 seconds

I'd be wary of the in bed co sleepers w foam sides in case she rolls into it

She and I share a king size bed. I have a waterproof "pad" (like what u would put on a changing pad) she sleeps on with a burp rag under her head so it's not scratchy. She sleeps next to me and I hold her hand/s usually. Sometimes we sleep reclined w her on my chest if I fall asleep after feeding/burping her. The halo bassinest is right next to the bed and it has mesh sides but I couldn't touch her stomach or hold her hand without sitting up/getting up

What causes SIDS is unknown and it can't be prevented. Swaddling your child when she's asleep is comforting to babies. I swaddled my daughter every night and throughout the day to comfort her. I wouldn't stress yourself out too much about SIDS just be aware of it.

Bedshare? @nowmrspost in arms or in co sleeper? Im almost to that point 😥 I know it is normal right now for me to feel like this , but my anxiety is off the chart.

I didn't swaddle very long bc she turned/slept on her side early on. I have a snuza but haven't used it since we bedshare. I would just stare at her and keep checking if she was breathing when she was in bassinest. I can't even remember how long she slept in bassinest, wasn't very long. I still worry about SIDS, but it's gotten better

It's something to worry about but don't stress yourself out. Swaddling is best it comforts and calms baby and keeps them bundled so they don't turn over. I did with both my boys. I also used a sleep sack since they didn't like legs tied up in blanket. I used a monitor with both kids and still use it today just so I can hear what's going on and keep them safe

Swaddling is fine as long as she doesnt overheat 😊 I only like the muslin swaddles for that reason

‼ I want to know why people say that, "do not put your baby on their stomachs to sleep because it will cause sids!" ??? Babies sleeping on their stomachs DO NOT cause sids NOR does them sleeping on their sides!! Babies can get sids no matter how they sleep!! I was told by a lot of older people that said, "when my kids was little they recommend babies to sleep on their stomach to prevent them from choking on spit up." Isn't it MY child? It is ultimately MY choice and MY decision not yours!! It doesn't make me a bad parent at all!! ‼ ‼ (By the way I am NOT saying that Sophia sleeps on her stomach, side or back! It is really no ones business how she sleeps really! I am saying it because it kinda pisses me off! Their is really noway of stopping sids from happening!)‼
