I'm always so exhausted at night that I have a hard time motivating myself to change Leon as often as I should... Plus, he falls right back asleep after eating and I don't like to wake him up! :(

full bath, I only wash his hair every other day because I noticed when I did it daily his scalp looked dry. I switched to every other day and no more issues. I wash him, let him splash if he wants, dry him, cover him in Aveeno lotion ( the unscented- his Dr's nurse told me to avoid scented ones in colder months because they cause respiratory issues). Then I put him in Pjs and read him stories and turn on something relaxing before bed like music or YouTube baby Einstein videos on the TV. He usually falls asleep between 8-9, he's been waking around 12 since he started teething but other than that would only stir to nurse and if I feed him quick enough he eats and stays asleep till he's hungry again. He's a pretty good sleeper though so I'm lucky.

@angelao777, you bathe him nightly... As in, full bath or just relaxing in the tub? I've been wanting to try some different things to see what works best for our little guy

it is difficult, broken sleep is the worst it makes you more tired. Hopefully changing him less at night helps you sleep better. My son has to sleep with me too which does make it difficult to sleep soundly, but cutting down on diaper changes have helped a lot for me. I bathe him nightly too which helps him sleep better also.

Thank you @angelao777, it's just so difficult adjusting to a newborn's schedule... Before having Leon, I needed my rest, but that's not really an option anymore! He's going through a growth spurt so he keeps me up most of the night with feeding sessions. Also, he insists on sleeping on top of me so what little sleep I do manage to get is not the most revitalizing!
Diaper changes always wake him up completely, then he fights going back to sleep and gets really fussy from being overtired! During the day, he's a pretty frequent pooper, but he usually barely has any poop in his diapers at night.

no worries, if they don't poop you can hold off. When my son was born I changed him everytime I fed him (every 2 hours), that would wake him up at night and I never slept. Now I only change him at night if he wakes up or if I know he may have pooped. Diapers hold up to 12hrs, the good ones anyway. And babies pee all the time so it's not gonna hurt them at night for a few hours. If your nursing however you might have to continue changing more often if he's still pooping every feeding...I don't miss those days at all. Don't beat yourself up, your doing a great job and you need rest too!
