Is anyone else dealing with a monster in law?? How do you manage without snapping?

Lol sounds like my ex mil but hopefully yours isn't as bad as mine. Mine took me to court for visitation rights after her son decided he was done with us

I never lived close to mine so it wasn't an issue, but we recently moved near them. There was some drama because she wanted to come over whenever and is used to calling all the shots. Thankfully, my husband was on my side but even if he wasn't, I didn't care. I'm looking out for what's best for my kids and that's most important. In my opinion, it's their loss. You mess with the mom and your losing time or relationship with your grandkids. I don't think it's my job to make sure she's happy. 🙄 Things have gotten better after consistently saying no to what she's planned, or just letting her know things are on our terms, but she still has an issue every month or so with some dumb crap. 🙄🙄

I agree!! She is married but she will text him every little thing she did in her day and I tell him like I just want some alone time with you but it feels like your mom is here when she texts you every two seconds. The texting cut back significantly after that but then she made him feel guilty like she wasn't going to live forever and he was choosing me over her like it's not even like that. She has serious issues @beebaby,

I try to be firm with her but then she cries to my boyfriend and her husband and say I'm being mean and completely twisting my words around to make it seem like I insulted her or yelled at her. Like she's literally a big baby. I can't imagine myself talking to her and it sucks because I don't want it to be that way but I already have a son I don't want to babysit her too

I've been dealing with my mil for 12 years. Before I use to keep my mouth shut but not anymore I tell her how it is not mean but firm. We use to get in arguments all the time and finally I said I'm going to stay calm but firm and honestly that worked really well she is finally starting to realize that if she treats me with respect I will show her respect and the same thing with my kids. These are my kids not hers so she needs to back off and let me be the mother to my kids. Good luck I know how you feel

I am getting to that point but I don't want the relationship with her and my son to suffer because she is throwing a temper tantrum every other week
