So...my husband came home from work with a grocery bag full of sweets. I mean donuts, and candy...i never really ate sweet stuff before the pregnancy. I never actually craved it. But when i got pregnant for the first 3 and a half months i was taking in over 300mg of sugar a day. I know some people are thinking, o thats not to bad. If you get gentessinal diabeties it wont affect the baby. Well thats not the concern. My husband only brought the bag home bc it was given to him by a fellow woman coworker that knows im pregnant. She has to cut down on her sweet stuff bc she has 20 cavities in her teeth...also not my concern.
This is however;
My dad has diabeties, and my moms a prediabetic. So the baby already has a high chance of being born with the same issues even though i never had it. My sister knowing this concern at 3 and a half months of my pregnancy counted my sugar intake and imeddiately restricted my sugar intake well aware that it could/would affect the baby later. Im restricted to 10-20mg of sugar a day and at most im not allowed to exceed more than 50mg of sugar in a day. Which counting carbs as sugar doesnt count bc i need the carbs. However what i do have to count is raw sugar...which is again candy. I counted all the sugar in each piece of candy in the bag. Over half of them i exceed my sugar intake limit with one serving.
Part of me wants to throw it out bc me and the baby dont need it. But part of me doesnt bc i hate wasting things. So im tempted when i wake up to take all the candy and cut it up into smaller controlled pieces and putting them in containers. Restricting myself to maybe one or two of the small pieces a day.
I know its tge best idea and i can do it. But what im wondering is if anyone else is having to do the same thing?

I think you should try eating the smaller pieces because your going to want it anyways

@nchamrick yea. It just kinda annoys me. The reason why is bc like i said before i got pregnant i didnt even want sweet stuff. And when i did eat it it wasnt much. The thought of intaking a large amount of sugar was always horrible for me and still is. The reason why is bc i have ADHD so uppers are downers. When i take in to much sugar i not only risk getting my dads problems (before i got pregnant) but i also am gittery for about an hour and then it makes me pass out. Caffinee never made me gittery but it still drained me of my energy which is why i never drank much things caffinated either. Instead of getting a tiny bit of energy from these things my body goes through it quickly and then drops me off a ledge. I grew up with it doing that so being pregnant and wanting sweet stuff ends up becoming annoying.

@bethany_sapp, I totally understand I'm like that with soda never drank them until I got pregnant

@nchamrick yea. Its not fun...but o well. For some reason our bodies want sweet stuff while were pregnant. Some of the worst stuff for us yet we end up wanting it. Im just glad that after the babys born ill be able to go back to my normal diet
