Homeschool vrs public school!!!???!!
My kids are in 2nd and 3rd grade and in public school now. I'm working cause we needed me too due to our debt but we have gotten on top of it and now my income is just extra and am to the point where I can stay home. I really want to start homeschooling my kids next year but the only thing holding me back is I'm worried about what they may miss out on.
My two sister in laws homeschool their kids, and they all love it. There's a homeschool co-op thing where they get together for field trips, the kids are super socialized and happy, and they're learning really well. I like the idea of homeschool because you can focus more on what help your individual kid needs rather than a teacher who has to spread his time amongst 20-30 kids, and you can make it fun, more real-world experiences.
You can always enroll your kid in a music class, art class, sports, whatever he or she had a passion for, to get them in a bigger group setting.
I worked in the public school system for about 5 years... with juniors and seniors in high school... I had kids who were about to graduate unable to do simple math, some could barely write, few could spell, and I actually had one that could not read! 😓and the school corporation I was in was one of the better school districts! We are seriously considering having me home school our kids, just because I don't feel with all the regulations put on teachers and the teaching to tests really does not make for better education! We are also looking at Montessori schools, and might do our children's early education through that, and then homeschool after that... still trying to decide ourselves!
School fees
Having an intense debate on Facebook about school fees for public school. I'm in the "stop whining about school fees and stop having kids if you can't afford them" camp and there is the other camp of "free school is a constitutional right! It's bull s*** we have to pay anything at all".
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Florida has approved arming teachers
And there goes that final nail in the decision to homeschool my kids ? ??♀️
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
Okay update. I dropped the kids off at school and they had to check their hair and they were good. I talked to the teacher and she said that they didn't have a case but that an older sibling had it and I guess the mom treated both kids. I was like oh but if you have a case do we get notified and she said no, it's a HIPPA violation. 🤯 I said how, I'm not asking for names and you don't even have to say it was in their class.
I feel like now the parents weren't told that their kids have been ...
Well we already do cub scouts and martial arts. And I love them making friends this way cause I know them too and their parents were I know none of the kids they are around 8 hours a day
