Does anyone know how long it takes for birth control to be effective? I began taking the pill 7 weeks pp and have only been taking it for 10 days.  Is the month rule just a myth?

When I was on birth control it was 7 days of taking it before it was effective

Yeah I'm just not sure if I should stop taking it because our back up failed but if is effective after seven days the chance should be slim

My birth control pills said use protection til after being on it for 48 hrs.

It use to be a month but now if you read up online it's usually effective after 7 days depending on what you take but it's always recommended to use back up for the first month
