Being a new mom is so hard. Breastfeeding is so hard :( my baby was doing so well at first when it came to latching. Last night was the hardest. She ate at 9 pm and then wouldn't latch on at all. She finally ate this morning. But not from my breast. I couldn't even look at her without crying. I felt like I failed at being a mom because I wasn't able to feed her 😔 her dad was getting upset because she kept crying and I kept trying to give her my breast. She finally slept. And this morning we tried again but she wouldn't latch on at all. She would get frustrated and wouldn't take it. She would take a pacifier but not my nipple. After all that we decided to formula feed her this morning. She finally ate, she took the bottle. And now she's sleeping away. I'm not giving up on breastfeeding though. I'm just really glad she ate. Her lips were beginning to crack 😔😔 I'm so happy she's ok now. This is so hard 😭

The first few weeks are extremely hard and different. One day at a time!

The same exact thing happened to me! My son got to the point where he would scream at the top of his lungs if I put my breast in his mouth. The problem for me wasn't that he wouldn't latch it was that he would latch but didn't want to suck and work for the milk to come out. My doctor suggested I bottle feed because I was getting depressed about it. He's on just formula now after I breastfed him for only a month. Don't worry you're not alone. You did not fail as a mother sometimes babies just want something different. If you really want to breastfeed that's great and I wish you the best of luck but don't feel like a failure if she doesn't take to it. The most important thing is that she eats when she's supposed to and that she's healthy. ❤️ good luck

Have you tried seeing a lactation consultant? They are awesome! I think she might be having some nipple confusion. With breastfeeding, babies have to work harder for the milk and when we introduce bottles, they see how easy it can be and tend to be lazy and will refuse the breast. They say you're not supposed to introduce pacifiers until they are like 8 weeks or so due to nipple confusion. But I think a lactation consultant may be able to help you! You should look into them, and they are free! Well in California they are.. good luck and stick to it, I would just recommend sticking to the breast if you want to breast feed. But regardless fed it best! So do whatever makes you and baby happy! 🙂

you're not alone! I promise! just don't give up, if you want to do it. my first is 5 and still to this day is regret letting others opinion influence my decision to stop trying. then with my second, we had a rough start, we had to use a nipple shield for almost a month, we got thrush and I would cry every time she nursed because it hurt so bad, but I was determined I could do it and I was going to prove everyone who doubted me wrong. here we are 16 months strong!! and I'm so glad I pushed through the rough start and continued. breastfeeding is truly an amazing thing!

I exclusively pumped for my baby girl because she wouldn't latch. It's possible, hope you have a great pregnancy and don't hesitate to ask me any questions or concerns about EPing 💕 @genn1994,

Thank you. I've been pumping today for the first time. I'm slowly getting the hang of it. I'm also giving her formula. I'm a ftm. Is that alright to do ? :/ @pikapal,

One thing I learned, is that it IS ok to give some formula while you're trying to establish your supply. Just make sure you still pump and/or still try to offer the boob. I'm a ftm too, and there are so many ways to motherhood. If you can get her to keep latching (which I hope you can!!) that's great! But if she doesn't, don't feel like a failure. Not every baby latches/wants the boob.

Thank you. I just feel so lost and confused. She definitely prefers breast milk over formula. Thank you for helping me 💕💕💕@pikapal,

Of course, no problem. Part of the reason why I exclusively pumped was because she absolutely hated formula 😭 but she couldn't latch, so I had to give her breast milk 🍼 one way or another lol but I definitely know what you mean about being lost and confused. This is hard!! And no one and nothing can prepare you for this :/ but you got this! :)!! 💝
