Apparently, the average infant gains about 3/4 of an ounce a day... Our baby boy has been gaining around 2 whole ounces a day and now weighs a whopping 11 pounds! I knew he was an eater!!!
@mi.mommy, I wouldn't say it's so much my doing as it is his appetite haha.
He cluster feeds at night, has since he was born, and never goes longer than 3 or 4 hours, day or night, without wanting to eat. At times, he will eat for an hour straight and I'm constantly switching him back and forth between breasts. It's actually kinda stressed me out, how often and long he eats for, since we're exclusively breastfeeding.
Dang mine is 5 months, 7.14 at birth and weighted 13.14 at 4 months haha.
mine was 7lbs when she was born and at her 2month check up she is 10.9lbs.
My little man was the same way! He weighed 15 lbs by the time he was 2 months old!
I was so shocked when my doctor told me my baby gained 1 lb 5 oz in 1 whole week,
I do formula feed an breast feed. she was born at 7 lbs 2 oz. now she's getting bigger lol an has a huge appetite @mandi.marie
@aliakr, are you nursing or formula feeding?
Leon is exclusively breastfed and eats constantly! He was born at 8 pounds, lost several ounces after birth, and has gained nearly 4 pounds in just 5 weeks.
We're so proud of our little man!
I let Leon decide when it's time to eat and for how long. Generally, he wakes up from sleep and he's hungry, so we feed typically for 10 to 20 minutes on one breast. Then, I give him a diaper and outfit change, if necessary. He usually wants to eat again after this, so we feed on the other side, typically for 5 to 15 minutes, and he almost always falls asleep at the second breast. At night, however, we may go back and forth 3 or 4 times before he's satisfied.
