Needing help...
My fiancé and father of my child has started being physically abusive to the point where I have bruises all over my body. Punching, choking, pushing, kicking, just everything. I'm so stressed and tired from it all and I just don't know what to do. He tells me if I leave he will try to get full custody of our daughter. I'm originally from Illinois but have lived in Kentucky since a few months before giving birth. My family knows an attorney that thinks he could help me get custody but I have to live in Illinois again for at least 6 months before I can do anything. Which I can't do other wise he will try to file in Kentucky. Just needing advice if anyone can help. Not one to usually air problems on social media but feeling hopeless right now.....

Document everything with photos, if you could get a recording even better. If he's physically abusive there's no way in hell a judge with any type of sense will give him custody.

Do NOT let him scare you into being with him. Honestly, from what I've seen from friends and family, women usually have a little bit of the upper hand in fighting for custody just for being the mother. He ESPECIALLY will not get custody if he's abusive. He won't even have a fighting chance! Get out of that house and go to a women's shelter, they will give you all the recourses you need. you're strong and beautiful, if you don't at least leave for yourself, leave for hour daughter.

Do not let him threaten you! He cannot take away your child from you. Are you using drugs? Are you an unfit mother? Document the abuse. Better yet, call the cops, have them take you out of the situation. No judge will ever grant him full custody. What a bully! Protect yourself and your baby. @taryn.jolly

I'm not sure how it is there but in NY my mother was abused and the guy was still able to get shared custody... I think you should contact a lawyer and get A FREE consultation. Also get police reports. My mother always says men don't want no babies they just want to hurt you. He honestly might just want to hurt that's why he's saying he would go for custody

Don't let him scare you. Right now you need to get the hell out of there with your daughter, for your safety. He's proving that he's dangerous, but I would document all instances of the abuse. Get pictures, get proof. No court is going to grant him custody of a child when he does that to the mother. Right now you have to think about the well-being of yourself and your baby. You are strong, you CAN do this.

You need to report him. Do you have records of the abuse? Meaning have you called the cops on him before or have you taken pictures or anything? I'm saying this because once the officials are aware of the abuse you have every right to get a restraining order on him and that'll force him to stay away from you and your daughter for the time being so you can at least move back to Illinois and get the process started with a lawyer and everything. I am still going through a custody case with my sons dad. He was abusive and I left him. I never reported the abuse until after I left him and I should've done it right when it happened because now it's so hard when there's no proof he did it except for his family being witnesses and they won't testify against him .

I know it's scary but you are doing this for your baby. I had to literally run away from my sons dad and move not only to another state but across the ocean to my sisters and he still came after me. It'll be hard but you can do it! Gather everything you can . The court will not give him custody of a child if he is proven to be abusive

You should call the police if it keeps happening
