@kimberlyyyy_the-preemie-mom, that is SO sad. I honestly don't know how someone else could be so selfish like that during pregnancy..

While my son was in the nicu there was a baby who was born at my son's same gestational age (29 weeks) born to an addict. They couldn't tell me what the mom was on but I could tell baby was born addicted to something. I found out because I asked my favorite nurse why no one visited the baby and I asked if I could hold him. He couldn't give me specifics- I don't think he was supposed to tell me anything but I was told I couldn't hold the baby and that no one visits the drug babies. It still breaks my heart thinking about it.

I see it a lot where I work. It's terribly sad

The thing that makes it worse for me is that even being born addicted and both parents STILL using, their cps case worker decided that they were just fine and hasn't done anything about it. Even though neither of them does anything for their child and neither of them are making any effort at all to get clean or anything. It's such a huge flaw in the system. He is completely slipping thru the cracks and I feel like it's going to ruin his life.

My brothers baby was born addicted to heroin (cause my brother and his gf are both incredibly irresponsible) and it was absolutely heartbreaking. Aside from the shakes he would get, then crying and screaming in between feedings was really hard to deal with also. He is almost 2 now and he is still pretty hard to handle most of the time.

It is very heart breaking😢😢
