I wanna start my son on solids next month but wanna skip the rice cereals. Anyone ever done this? Any tips/ recipes? Thinking of making his food myself😁
@js_kidsmom, my pedkeeps suggesting it but I feel like a lot of drs are just old school and so used to doing it that way. I just nod my head and smile lol

I'm planning in skipping cereal this time around too.
@beebaby, it was the most frustrating and was awful to see my baby in so much pain. Unfortunately the only medicine for a baby's gut is their food. It took awhile to get it right but we got there. I had the issue as a baby myself. Hoping the baby I am carrying now doesn't have the same problem.
I agree with @beebaby, we never gave my son rice cereal. My doc actually said it was kind of a no no. We started with the Gerber stage one fruits and veggies around 5 months. Keep in mind giving a baby solids at this age is really just for fun. They are still getting all the nutrients they need from either formula or breast milk.
We did give my son oatmeal at about six months. He had a milk protein allergy and we were trying to see if he had out grown it. Babies who have that allergy usually can't break down the oatmeal either so will have a reaction. Didn't want to be switching around formulas again until we were pretty sure he had outgrown the intolerance.
I started at three months like a bite a day then at about six months he was eating like a chap only babyfood I gave him was apple sauce other words I made my own. My baby to this day loves food and is not a picky eater. I don't know if it's because I have him bites here and there from three months and up. But I'm happy with it
