@ginz, There was a lactation consultant that I saw only one day, but I'll be honest I was so out of It and had so much in my mind that I didn't ask. I think I'm engorged right now. my boobs are as hard as rocks. I gave him newborn formula last night, but I don't want to get him use to it. I don't even have a pediatrician ready for him. just so much stuff went on ugh lol

@ingridm89 has your milk come in yet? it took 5-6 days for my milk to come in, then I was engorged for 3 days... soooo painful... until my supply started to even out based on my baby's needs. it was even harder to bf while engorged.

do you have a lactation consultant/nurse from the hospital you delivered at you can contact? I visited one and she weighed my baby before and after a bf session to see how much milk she was getting. she consumed 20ml on the right and <10ml on the left. so pumping and feeding 1oz by bottle was vital for her growth.

@ginz, I feel that's what happening with my baby. :( I don't think he is getting enough milk and it saddens me. I tried pumping right now to see how much was coming out and it's not enough. I literally am feeding him every hour as well.

is he latching on properly and getting enough to eat? my baby had a hard time latching properly so she didn't get enough to eat in one feeding so I'd end up feeding every hour. it gets really exhausting. at her first doctor's appt, we learned she wasn't getting enough during breastfeeding. Doc recommended bottle feeding 1 oz of breast milk to ensure she was getting a full meal. doing that spread her feedings out every 2 hrs. first couple wks is rough on your sleep schedule but it does get easier! congrats on your newbie! 😄

@kambam, lmao. I hardly let him cry so maybe I need to let him just to see what he can tolerate.

if hes been on a lot (like 2h in one sitting) he might just need to he soothed in other ways so you can have a break. like having someone wear him in a wrap, a swing or rocker. just some ideas to try. if he doesnt soothe in 15mins or so you'll have to take him back 😆

@kambam, it's so hard to hand him off because when I do he immediately starts crying and wants my boob. :/

I nurse on my side. A lot of people call it breast sleeping. I was so paranoid about co-sleeping but my sons pediatrician said that though he don't recommend it (because he cant) he had never had any mother roll over on their child and that sleep deprivation is more worrisome.

nursing laid back in a safe spot can be a lifesaver. or laying so you can nap while he nurses. the first few weeks are important to nurse so he can build your supply. and of course when hes not nursing hand him off so you can nap.
