So my MIL and FIL were at my house to celebrate my hubs and 13yo birthdays. She then informs me that I need to contact First Steps to work with my youngest. She said because she isn't saying a lot of words that she needs to be evaluated. I was a little pushed and very heartbroken. I know that my baby doesn't communicate like other kids her age. I just feel like she already has all this shit (sorry for the language) wrong with her. I feel like I have been doing everything wrong by this poor baby. I feel like I screwed up while I was pregnant. Yes I didn't have the best prenatal care in the beginning but I tried to eat right and stopped smoking and even stopped drinking sodas. I'm just struggling today I guess 😞

My youngest was like that she would not talk much so I talked to her doctor and we set up a speech therapist for after her second birthday but a week before her speech appointment she started talking in sentences. lol

@js_kidsmom, that's what everyone is telling me. She has a huge vocabulary but she's just lazy.

At her 2 year old appointment speak with her doctor. Tell her your concerns to see if they'll set up an appointment.

Some kids just take a while to speak in sentences! You know your baby. My friends daughter would grunt at the things she wanted until she was two because it was easier.
As for you, you're doing the best you can! That's all you can do. You love her and make sure she has what she needs, and you did what you could while pregnant, made the best choices you could. I didn't have insurance the first trimester so I skipped a few things, tests, scans, etc, but I did what I could. That's all we can do.

@nomaci, that's what happened to me too. I was fighting with Medicaid during the first trimester. Then I had gestational diabetes.

Insurance is so complicated and frustrating. GD isn't really something you cause, I think it just happens to some women. I was just under the limit to not it, and I think I might have developed it anyway because I had a big baby.

I feel the same but my son is only 1 so I would try to give him time I'm not sure if he's suppose to just talk alot now are what but I get very excited when he do say something

@jerryjrmommy, thanks. I really needed that. All my family has been like she should be talking more, you have to quit talking for her (how in the hell is she going to learn if I don't say what she needs to) , you have to make her say what she wants. I'm just so overwhelmed by all their comments. It really helps to have so much support from other moms going thru the same thing 😊

your very welcome honey.. @jdamommy3 I really never listen to what they say because every baby is a little different and others may take longer then other but they will be fine
