Breast feeding moms, can y'all give me advice as to why when my baby feeds on my left side, my nipple hurts so badly. Like burns and its only when she is sucking. Anyone know why? I'm a first time mom!

It may be the latching. She may not have a good grip. It's the most painful feeling when they don't latch and just suck. Tighten your hand on the breast like a C until she wraps her whole mouth around but do not let go. I always had to stay holding the left side for some reason as well making it easier on you and the baby... good luck!!! @mell_babie12,

I had the same issue for a few days, I alternated ice and heat for a bit and have been feeling a lot better. Definitely could be the latch! Try a different position or really focusing on getting the right one..if it feels at all weird..start over! Hopefully you figure it out 😥

Mine used to hurt a lot but after using nipple balm after every time I feed him it went away. They also sell these nipple soothing gel pads which give some relief as well. But if it hurts all the way from inside the breast you may want to massage it as you feed and maybe do some warm compresses before feeding, it could be plugged up

Does baby have a good latch? Try another feeding position maybe see if it's better? Usually painful when not right latch
