Little rant:
Today was a decent day til school got out and my step daughter came home. Her attitude towards me is still there from last night. Still no appreciation or respect. She didn't clean up after herself this morning before school or after she ate so I said something. Then she throws an attitude and back talking me. My fiancé standing right there and no backing me up or telling her not to talk to me that way. I yelled at him and left. He showed her it's okay to talk to me that way. Then he texts me that they both feel I have resentment towards her... I have never once had resentment towards her. I just expect more out of her. I expect at 14 she cleans up after herself without me having to follow her and clean up her mess. I go above and beyond for this girl everyday. Still no appreciation for what I go out of my way to do.
I feel lost and confused. Am I in the wrong for telling her to clean up after herself?
Two months left in this pregnancy, I sure hope it gets better!!
No! At 14 I was cleaning the house by myself! (Not an awesome childhood) nonetheless she could at least pick up after herself. I would be saying the same things. Honestly just talk to your SO about it. Be like "I love her to death. Like she's my own, that means I'm going to treat her as so. She doesn't get special treatment, she's 14 she needs to pick up after herself" ask him if he expects the same out of this baby when baby is older
Thank you both! 😘 just got home, so we will see how the rest of the night and week goes
