I have a non mommy question...
I went to urgent care the other day for what I thought was a bad cold. I only went cuz I had a temp and a new baby of corse. I had a flu test done but it came back negative.
I forgot to mention to the dr I sleep under a window that was very drafty the night I started feeling sick. Could it still be flu (I had a flu shot when I was still preggo with baby) and a negative flu test?? Or could I just have gotten sick from the drafty window??? I'm so confused now

It's most likely just a cold. Sleeping with a window open and cold draft will cause your allergies to act up and you will get sick. If you had the flu, you would know. You usually don't get the flu when sleeping with an open window.

@nurseandmotherofsorin, I'm hoping it's just an allergy thing. It feels way more extreme than a cold, I've been almost debilitated from this, but feeling better now

@babynumber2ishere, it is. I have done it before too. And I've also slept with the fan on for a few days and wondered why I was stuffy. Apparently, you can get a cold from sleeping with the fan on too. A fellow nurse of mine enlightened me on that. Lol

The flu is from germs, not drafts, so you should feel confident it's not the flu. Try blocking the draft in the window with a towel. It's probably what's making you stuffy!! Hope you feel better soon!!!

@mrsgraffiti, we sealed the window, so no more drafts! Thanks!

That happens to me and my husband a lot when we're close to drafty windows or if the air is too dry. Use a humidifier and the neti pot to flush your sinuses. Most likely sinus cold
