Any nursing school students in this group?!? How do you manage with your babies?!? Or registered nurses that went through it with baby?? Praying to get in the program this august and just wanting some feedback
@shonce, yes. You don't need to live there if you don't want to. You can have your own residence and commute. That's what I did when I went for my LPN first. It was free. And paying for my RN is enough. lol
@shonce, job corp is kind of like Boces. Or a vocational school. They offer carpentry, nursing, security guard training and other trades. And it is all paid for. If you do go for your LPN through job corp, they make you take a DET entrance exam.
@shonce, it doable just takes a lot of discipline and with your baby just need help and support from family members. @vannahjam14, you're dying with pre reqs. It gets harder once in program but again doable. I've been a registered nurse 5 years now but didn't have a baby. It took a lot out of me but with discipline and determination I graduated top of program. If I can do it y'all ladies got this. Good luck.
I am a nurse now. I actually met my baby's father in nursing school. We found out we were pregnant our grad day. Lmao. We made a friend in our class who was a single mama. She got help from friends when it came to needing her son to be taken care of. She said it was stressful since she was with him after school and needed to study. She ended up making a game of studying with her son. She made flash cards and had him help her with those. And when it came to reading, she would draw quick picture of what she was reading about for him to look at. Some programs offer childcare. If they don't, shop around your community for daycare. It will be stressful, but you can do it! Don't be afraid to ask for help!
Try a local job core for your LPN first! They pay for school, housing, food, uniform, transportation, books and your first NCLEX.
