Ok Mommies, couple questions. It's been awhile since I've been pregnant. My youngest is 8. So, I don't know if things have changed since then or if my current doctor is just weird. With my first two, every appointment I had to pee in a cup and they measured me. This time around, neither of those things happen. They check my BP, weight and Mara's heartbeat and that's it. Also I've been going to the doctor since 8 weeks. They have my appointments set for every two weeks, sometimes every week. They only exception being the appointment before my 3rd ultrasound. That was a month gap. I would understand if they labeled me high risk, but they haven't. I had a miscarriage before this pregnancy, but they told me that that didn't count and disregarded it. I'm currently low risk and this pregnancy is going great. Also, I'll have another ultrasound next month, which will be ultrasound number 4. I remember only getting two with my first two pregnancies. Soooo... I'm not entirely sure if it's all just a new way of doing things or just this doctor.
@moodyseahorse, to me it just sounds like a way to milk you for more money! 🙄 sadly some doctors are like that
That makes sense I had C-sections with both girls so I know you want it done right if you are feeling fine and baby has been good then stay maybe she is watching for things but just not testing if she is the best then I think it's fine
@twinpeanut It might, but even if it does I don't see a reason to go quite that often. I've already gotten a letter saying my insurance pats for 2 ultrasounds because I'm low risk. but at this point all I have are the important ones. I didn't get the letter until after they did the second ultrasound. So, I'm kinda screwed on that front. @millermommie Nope, not diabetic and didn't have gestational diabetes with either of my other two. Isn't a family trait. @danielle5031 That's pretty much what I remember. Picked this doctor because she's the best surgeon in town and I know I have to have a csection. Haven't liked her since my first visit, but I'm kind of trying to suck it up in hopes that a good surgery will make up for it.@trice4990 maybe they didn't start measuring right away. I could be remembering wrong. and I started going to the doctor later in the pregnancy with my first two. @dreamermom yeah, it's super weird on my end. They constantly tell me that I'm fine. everything is great, but come in every two weeks. It's more annoying than anything. A lot of times I end up having to leave work early to go to an appointment that lasts all of five minutes. They had me pee in a cup at my very first appointment. Then one time after that, and that was only because I insisted that they do. Because I wanted to be sure I wasn't leaking fluid. Today I have to go in for an appointment to "prepare for the glucose test." How do you even prepare for that? All that test is, is drinking a beverage and sitting for a hour.
Yeah, I'd be a little concerned also... I'm closer to the high risk end of the spectrum and you've had more appointments than me! And already more ultrasounds than they are planning for me! Im going about every 3-4 weeks, and I'm having my second ultrasound next week, because they noticed an abnormality, something about a second collapsed gestational sac and something with my ovary, during my dating scan... so they want to double check it... you should be peeing in a cup so they monitor if you show any sugar or protein in your urine
I always pee in a cup , they weigh me and then listen to baby's heart rate , and check my blood pressure, iv been going every 4 weeks expect for the ultrasound here and there. I also had a miscarriage before this baby but they didn't label me high risk ether and so far everything's been going fantastic. Really seems like odd doctor appointments
I always had to pee in a cup and they started measuring my stomach after 30 weeks. Also my appointments were always a month apart and at 30 weeks went to 2 weeks and the last 5/6 weeks it's every week
They always did weight bp and had to pee in cup then listened to heartbeat and measured where he was. Had a couple sonos in beginning until found out gender think I was 22 weeks then last sono at 35 weeks
With both pregnancy my appointments were every 4 weeks until 20 weeks then every 2 weeks then at 30 weeks it was once a week had to pee in a cup every single time, blood pressure, weight, measured and listen to heart rate your appointments do sound odd maybe just a laid back doctor but me personally I would find a new one
different offices also do different things like the one i originally went to did bs extra appointments which were great excuses to charge me for bs. Like you have THREE crap appointments before seeing a doctor then ANOTHER appointment for they would do any testing. I left after the first which was an interview with a nurse but they are trying to charge me like i saw a doctor
