my birth story 🤗
Saturday I was asked to come into labor and delivery to do a 4 hour blood pressure monitor because of the elevated protine in my urine. made it 30 minutes and was admitted.
they started the induction process around 12pm with cirvidil, by 11pm I was 1cm and 50% effaced do they started pitocin. by morning I hadn't progressed at all so my pitocin was turned off and I was put back on cirvidil.
almost 36 hours into the process and I dilated to 2.5 and the dr put in a Foley ball. and let me tell you! contractions got insane and in 45 mins I was at 6cm. I got my epidural, pumped up the pitocin and played the waiting game.
in about 7 hours I was 9.5 and 100% thinned. the nurse called the dr and said I'd be delivering in about 30 mins, I had 2 more contractions and told her the baby was coming now. she frantically ran around getting my bed ready and trying to get my dr on the floor. I did 3 test pushes and was told to stop so the dr could get her scrubs on.
1 contraction later and my baby was born 😄
the room was prepped for delivery at 2:27 and I delivered at 2:34 am
January 23, 2017 was the best day of my life

I never heard of the foley ball. I will be talking with my doctor about it.

it literally saved me lol once i got it in my contractions were 2 mins apart and so strong I was crying. @js_kidsmom

I guess a lot of people don't like doing it. I'm not sure why because clearly it works well. but I'd see if it is an option! @js_kidsmom

@jsco Yea my doctor wants to do another csection but I believe if I go in labor naturally before the scheduled csection I can try for a vbac. The only thing with that is she won't give me pitocin. So I'd be laboring naturally the whole time. But if I can use the foley that would be awesome.

I had a foley ball to start with when I was already at 2-3 and it falls out at 4-5. It was a little too old fashion for me as they hang a bag of IV fluids off the bed to pull and open you with it secured with tape on my leg.

they didn't attach anything to mine. she blew up the inside and outside Ball and it did all the work itself. @nme1103

I mean the pitocin didn't almost work on me so I'm sure there's so much more they can do for you, especially because the ball is just a catheter @js_kidsmom

Oh man, that's definitely scary! well there's nothing in the ball except for the saline they use to pump it up, so maybe that'll be a good option @js_kidsmom
