My three month old won't sleep anywhere but in my arms. I've tried laying him down when he's sleepy but not asleep, I've tried laying him down when he's asleep, I've tried leaving the room and letting him cry (no more than ten minutes of crying), I've tried waiting with him until he falls asleep...I've tried tons of stuff and nothing works. He will stay awake until he gets so tired he's screaming his head off but even then he can fall asleep and wake right back up if I put him down. Idk how he got like this because he used to sleep in the rock n play. I'm not sure what to do.
am going thru this since my son was born n he is 6weeks. sigh. its hard... he did well this morning.. but back to his way again. lol he is in my arms as we speak...
@fabledturtle, thank you ❤️ I guess you're right. He has reflux so he needs comfort a lot because he doesn't feel good :/
I totally get that. We ended up starting to cosleep when she was 7 months old. You have to do what works for you! He must just need that extra comfort, you shouldn't feel guilty. There really isn't any right answer just keep trying different things until one day it clicks. When we finally got my daughter to sleep on her own she was up every 2 to 3 hours and I had to rock her back to sleep. It was exhausting. @inkymomma_
@fabledturtle, I wish I knew what to do. I'm a single mom so I have to hold him to get any sleep. I've resorted to cosleeping which I get crucified for all the time because it's "dangerous", but I have no idea what else to do. If I don't hold him, he screams until he's in a full sweat, purple face, can't breathe. He does that until he's being held. I can't just let him be like that.
My daughter was the same way. It took us a while to get her to sleep anywhere but our arms, we took shifts sleeping. Swaddling helped us a lot but obviously that isn't the answer for everyone. Sorry,I am not much help. It does get better. @inkymomma_
Sleep associations..
I've created some bad sleep associations like nursing him until he's fallen asleep or rocking him until he's completely asleep and then putting him down and I can't do that anymore. It's getting so much harder to rock him to sleep because he's getting bigger and I have a bad back. I honestly don't know how to get him to fall asleep on his own :( do you ladies have any advice ?
Science!
My friend posted this on facebook last night and said her kids were asleep within minutes. It's a song that scientists created to help people fall asleep. I was skeptical but I thought what the hay, I'll try it out. I didn't bank on Dh falling asleep, but both him and lo were asleep by minute 2. And lo slept six straight hours. ?
I don't know what to do, I have fed him like 6 times since 9:30 and he still seems to want more. But he keeps spitting up and spitting it out after awhile. And won't sleep and just cries and shoves his hands in his mouth and opens his mouth. Then he falls asleep for a bit and I put him down and 5 mins later he's crying. 😞
Okay mommas, this is our second night home and little Ryder refuses to sleep in his bassinet. I’ve tried swaddling, feeding him before bed so he isn’t hungry, tried 3 different pacifiers, laid him down awake and asleep. Any ideas?? I just don’t know how else to get him to sleep in his bassinet and not in my arms at night.
** I had no problem with my other two boys laying in their beds but Ryder refuses to leave me.**
SLEEP TRAINING
So.. we hired a sleep consultant to try to help our baby soothe himself to sleep and we got a sleep training plan for him. It's basically putting him down in his crib, sound machine on, and letting him cry for 3 minutes before going into the room to comfort him. The plan is to repeat this until he falls asleep by himself (which I believe will take us the whole night, if we are lucky)
I tried something similar when he was about 2 months old. I started at 7 pm and gave in at 2 am ...
Hang in there, I'm sure you're both doing great
