Got told by Henrys god mother today that if he ends up Bisexual,Gay or Trans, shes going to refuse to take custody of him if something were to happen to me and stephen, when she already swore to us that she would. She finished the statement with " im not homophobic or anything! I just cant deal with a little boy who wants his nails done, talks funny, and gets dumb haircuts." Alright first of all...Theres nothing wrong with any of that. If Henry grows up and wants to be a woman, thats fine, as long as hes happy. If he wants to date men, thats fine and dandy, as long as his partner treats him right and makes him happy. I dont care what he identifies as! As long as it makes him happy! And secondly, who the hell are you to tell me what my son can and cant be? Are you him? Do you feel what he feels? No, you cant. And no im not going to tell him he cant be Gay, Bisexual, Trans, or anything else. Its not my place as a mother to tell him who he can and cant be. Its my place to shape him into a kind, respectful, honest human being. To keep him warm, clothed, and loved. And to make sure he has opportunities in his life that I didnt. Hes just a baby right now and who knows what the future holds for him. But i know one thing, I will LOVE him Regardless of sexual orientation and regardless of what sex he identifies with. Because he is my child, and you dont just stop loving your children for bullshit reasons like that. Im glad I got to see this side of her, now i can focus on choosing a god mother who loves him for who he is and who he will become. Someone whos willing to support him in being himself no matter who he chooses to be.
