@hotmessmom4, hey! Thank you! So I am on fenugreek, mothers milk tea, I do the oatmeal and also have tried etole (Mexican chocolate drink), as well as the power pumping for straight 7 days. The good thing about the NICU is that I have free access to lactation nurses each day, they are helping me, but I think the stress is what has it at a hold. I had a really weird thing happen 2 days ago, I pumped literally a half oz of straight blood and blood clots, I am talking to my docs about it, bc they said it is not "normal" for it to happen like that this far post. The good news is, I was able to try a supplement to clear plugged ducts and along with that the blood has for the most part stayed away. I feel like I have been getting a little more.... pumping AT LEAST half an oz every 2 hours.... it used to be more of drops if I pumped every 2 hours. I am going to try and keep going, it's just super draining!
@purpledpink, I'm sorry to hear your son is in the NICU. I know you say nothing is helping but I thought maybe I could suggest a couple things. I took fenugreek pills from a health all natural food store, ate a ton of oatmeal, massaged my breast while pumping, and tried power pumping. Power pumping is every two hours for 20 min then rest for 10 pump 10 then rest for a other 10 and one last pump for 10. The power pump takes a little time to kick in but it helped me. There is also brewer yeast, lactation cookies and I'm sure more I haven't heard of. With all that being said I did have a friend who tried nearly everything and she too wasn't producing enough while her son was in the NICU. I know sometimes breastfeeding isn't a possibility. I really hope though that something helps you and that you are able to breastfeed.
This also might sound crazy but what if you were to let another baby nurse from you. If you had a friend that has a baby who nurses. I'm suggesting that because your body knows the difference between baby and pumping maybe you breast need a baby to stimulate them to make more milk rather than the pump. Once your supply is up you can pump. I don't know if this would actually help or if you would be comfortable doing that but I thought it wouldn't hurt to at least throw it out there.
I wish you the best of luck with this and I'm praying for you son and family! Be strong momma!
@purpledpink, I'm waiting for my time when I could get up and move like I want til then I feel trapped 😖
@kedrababy, yes, I could only pump, but the c section does make it hard to get up every 2 hours! The good news is that after a week or so, you should be able to move a LITTLE better... good luck mama
@hotmessmom4, my little guy is in the NICU, I'm only producing about half an oz to an oz each time I pump, nothing is helping the supply and I'm not keeping up with my sons needs. Right now they are going between what I have and donor milk. I am pretty sure stress is what is slowing mine down, but it's super discouraging. I told myself that I would keep going until he has surgery and re-evaluate after the surgery.
@studio.ghibli.mom23, @aliakr, @purpledpink, @hotmessmom4, @zeniyahsmommy, @jaidensmommy, I will have to say my biggest set back has been the c-section having to hold her certain positions or trying to get up every 2 hours is really painful for me
@jaidensmommy, I haven't completely given up but it's hard trying to keep pushing the breast on her when she takes the bottle so easily 😧
@zeniyahsmommy, I seen a lactation consultant Tuesday and I was all pumped up and encouraged then... 😞
@aliakr, @purpledpink it's hard as hell. My baby was doing well at first now she's not interested unless it's pumped
@studio.ghibli.mom23, I'm trying. But whenever my baby gets super fussy I just give in and give her a bottle 😰
Don't Stop !!!
I was the same way when I had my LO.
From the first couple of days In the hospital he wouldn't latch on at all and only faught! I had to go through so many lactation consultants. Having to do methods of squirting milk into a spoon and using the syringe method in order for him to take it. #stressful but soon after I got a breast pump and thought I still wouldn't make it. Now I'm a pro lol it's hard but in the end it's soooo worth it !
@purpledpink, you too love? What's making you want to stop?
Breastfeeding is the hardest thing a woman can do. You can do it! I almost gave up in the beginning and lasted 9 1/2 months. What wrong hun? What's making it hard?
@kedrababy, I'm struggling as well!!! I can't keep up 😭
NOOOO you got this Hun I can't tell you how many times I told myself nope can do it nope but I kept on now I'm damn near 3 months in
It's sounds like you have the right attitude about it and that great! Keep doing what your doing and again best of luck and many many prayers your way!
