How do all you ladies feel about weaning pre 6 months? When I had my son years ago it was around 4 months most people started but just wondered what everyone's thoughts were on the subject, Florence is only 13 weeks so nowhere near yet mind x

I waited until 6months with Morgan. He was happy on milk so there was no need to wean before. I started weaning Max just under 5months because he had been ill, had been off milk for weeks & had lost weight. He was also very keen to try food. Grabbing it from our hands, leaning for forward for it etc lol. He could also sit up so I was happy to try at that point.

I believe all babies may vary when their ready. I don't feel we can all go by the book. But at the same time I feel quite strongly that parents should do their research & look at their reasons for wanting to start at an early age. I hate parents weaning early to 'make them sleep longer'. This actually makes me a bit angry because their doing that for their needs & not their babies. But otherwise I think we just have to look at our baby & go by them. They soon let us know in their own way!

@west94, yeah I guess if they are not satisfied you have to try something, my little girl is 13 weeks but absolutely fine at the moment, she's on anti reflux milk, I was guna aim for 16/17 weeks to start, I read that once they have doubled their birth weight they can handle it body wise, not sure if this is correct though x

@littleelf85, yes my son ate everything in sight and started him at 16 weeks, not fussy at all. Do you think waiting contributed to your second son being fussier ?

@west94, yes I mean like baby rice/cereal type things, with my son I ground down a little of a Farley'a rusk and mixed with his formula and fed him that, is there a reason you started at that time, was she displaying signs ?
