What are your thoughts on having an only child? I always imagined having 2-3 kids, but anymore I find myself tempted to stick with only one. It seems so much easier to go to the store, out to eat etc. Also, by having another,I would probably have to quit a job that I love because costs for two children is higher for childcare. I like the idea of having more kids down the road and would love for my daughter to have siblings. But it's certainly a factor when you consider college costs, just the plain old cost of living, convenience etc.
Am I being selfish? Are there any only child's out there that have an opinion on it? Please help!

Side note: my husband does want more kids. I'm the hesitant one.

we simply waited. our kids are 10 yrs apart. maybe that could be your solution.

I always thought I only wanted 1 until I had a baby and realized omg I want someone for her to play with. I would like for them to be close in age but for all the reasons + more you talked about it just don't see that happened until like 5 yrs down the line. + I need a new husband😂😂

I hated being an only child. always jealous of my friends relAtionships with their siblings. .

dont think is selfish you just thinking whats best for your family nothing wrong maybe down the road you mighy have another child

I think it would be more selfish to have a baby knowing that your family would be strapped for cash, etc. I don't plan on having any more children because I'm almost 40 years old and that's my deciding factor. So I am one and done. Now 40 years old raising a toddler, I wouldn't change a thing about it, just not sure that I could handle 2 plus my job. On top of that I hated every moment of pregnancy. So I really don't want to subject myself to that again either. The way I see it is that having a sibling doesn't guarantee anything for your child. They may fight like cats and dogs and hate each other forever. They may be friends as children, and grow apart as adults and barely speak to one another. Family isnt always blood. Sometimes family means the people that we've chosen to be that for us. I plan on teaching my daughter how to make real connections with people and to understand that family isn't always blood.
