it hurt soooo bad getting inserted i just got the mirena on monday i havent had any bleeding though just crampy here and there.

I got mine at my 6week pp visit. I got very light cramps for that day and haven't bleed a flow once. Just a super light period with some symptoms cramps, moodiness. But that's all! I rave about mine 😍 I think it just depends on the type of periods your body is used to. I've never had a heavy period to begin with .

For a few hours it isn't as horrible as people say trust me not as bad as contractions lol

@kellyl22, oh my gosh that sounds terrible😭. I guess it will be worth it though to have 5 years not worrying about getting pregnant lol

I got the IUD but got paragard because it's just copper, no hormones. I have a history of high blood pressure and it's good for 10 years so it was perfect for me. I bled quite a bit in the beginning but now I'm so glad I got it!

And the info on it says your periods could get worse for up to 6 months then they will start going away and by 1 year you shouldn't have a period at all. The Mirena was made for women with heavy and painful periods

I got this at my 6 week appointment. The insertion was killer and I actually saw stars. It only takes maybe a minute max (they insert the speculum, clean the cervix, insert a sound into the cervix to measure it, clamp your cervix to hold it in place, and then insert the mirena) my Dr is an idiot and the clamp slipped off and I bled a lot from that. I had cramps and spotting for almost a week after and then it stopped and now I'm ok my period. I started on Friday and it's almost over so it doesn't seem to have accepted it much

@lovingtheo, how long did you have cramping?

It feels like period cramps and you get blooded. I had spotting for a few weeks
