So my sons eating 2 meals a day and loving it! Problem is, he won't drink his bottle at all during the day. He drinks the first one fine, then has breakfast, then I offer a bottle around lunch and he doesn't drink any! I offer another bottle every hour and he kicks up a fuss but he won't drink it. I give him dinner around 5 and he eats every last drop, I offer another bottle around 6 or 7 and he'll only drink it if I get him to sleep first. Same goes for 9pm when he goes to bed, he has to be asleep before he drinks his bottle otherwise he'll scream! He has no interest in sleeping during the day unless he's in the car but I can't feed him then so I don't know what to do! Do I give more solids or do I keep doing what I'm doing!?
I think that's it! Once they get a taste of food they probably think bottles aren't as tasty lol. It made weaning Morgan off his bottles much easier though. He was off bottles altogether by 13months. Think Max may be similar lol
@sara-lou, it's good to know he's not the only one at least! Bottles must just taste bad compared to solids lol
Yeh I worried for a bit because he was loving his food & refusing bottles. He still has days where he won't want one. Usually his 10.30/11am bottle. I think that'll be the first one he cuts out. They will start to cut bottles out once their on food. I will up the oz's of the other bottles once Max does.
@sara-lou, thanks I was just worried because I know he still needs a lot of milk. I got him to have a nap there now and got a whole bottle into him so I'll just have to persist a bit longer then lol
I'd carry on for a bit longer. Max was doing the same when I started weaning him. Was refusing his day bottles & bedtime bottle. I've made sure to keep his food portion small. I also try to give him a bottle before food. For example offer a bottle then a meal & hour later. As milk is still their main source at this point. He does drink better now.
@chesscalouise2, no they're homemade I just blend them up and add his milk until it's the right consistency xx
Puréed fruit or veg mixed with a bit of formula and he had porridge this morning x @chesscalouise2,
my little one has been the same since giving him food he dropped two bottles from what he used to have and I got worried he wasn't getting enough but he seems fine doesn't cry think I was so used to him feeding every 2 hours when he stopped I got freaked out lol. x
