I no this is a touchy subject so please no bashing or nasty comments, my daughter is 3 months old next week and she's taking 4oz bottles every 2 hours throughout the day and a total of 7oz through the night, she refuses to take anymore than that in one go or even after a short break so I was considering giving her a couple of spoonfuls of baby rice in the morning and at night when she's 15 weeks of she doesn't start taking more milk, what's everyone's opinion on this? Pic for attention because even though she's hard work I wouldn't have her any other way
Really annoys me though as it shouldn't be a touchy subject. Each parent to their own! What's best for 1 baby isn't best for another and that's what people need to remember before giving shitty opinions, the person who knows their baby best is the mother and as nice as it is to get advice from other people everyone is different. Xx
@charlotteandharry, it's touchy just because there is so much different advice and opinions out there, on groups on fb iv seen some very very heated discussions on weaning unfortunately, think I will try a little baby rice in her bottle if this constant feeding persists, thankyou for the advice x
Why is it a touchy subject? You need to do what you think is best for your daughter and not live by everyone else's opinions. I give my little boy baby rice at 11 weeks and it was the best thing I could do for him xx
I'm all for supporting mummies and their choices but I'd just like to make sure you've spoken to your doctor/health visitor. There are many reasons to delay weaning till 6 months. Baby's guts can't yet support food before 17 weeks, it can cause many allergies and stomach problems later in life and the big ticker for me was that studies show a higher risk of obesity and diabetes in children weaned at 4 months compared to 6 months. Personally even I will be weaning a little early at 5 months most likely. However that's having spoken to my HV and seeing some major milestones my baby has reached, 1. He can sit up unsupported 2. Shows interest in food 3. Can confidently grab and hold food and importantly 4. He is no longer showing tongue thrust reflex. With this reflex still in place it's very easy for baby to choke. I understand a mother knows baby best that's why even I'm trying to reach the 6 month mark but struggling as I'm BF on demand and he's feeding now every 1 and 1/2 hours. However we need to also as mothers understand that scientific studies aren't done to mom bash and make us feel bad, rather for the benefit of our children and their health.
i started feeding my 1st son at this age i mashed up rusk and warm water really smooth gave him a few spoonfulls in morning to begin with for a few days then gave it him morning and evening... i know a lot of people who have put rusk in bottles but me personally wouldnt do it..xx
The rice is designed for first stages on weaning. You give the your little one whatever you like. It could be veg, porridge, rusks etc. At least it's smooth You do whatever you want Hun:) xxx
@lauren1996, aww okay thank you so much for the advice
I wouldn't just incase there's a few hard lumps you may of missed try the porridge, banana porridge my boy loves!! And he also like carrot purée! He don't like apple purée as it's too sharp for him! Will try him with Apple again soon thou aha @alexmcatamney, x
@lauren1996, do you think a rusk mushed down with her milk would be okay? X
I tried my boy at 11 weeks and he's fine!! You do what you gotta do I had a load of shit for it but I said look he's my son and I know he needs it and they all agree now which is funny aha @alexmcatamney, do what you feel is best, plus I wouldn't give rice, try the porridge! Xx
@abbiiqx, aww I'm so happy to no its not just me, honestly I'd try starting her now but my husbands quite apprehensive about it all but I go back to college the week after next so I need to do something to settle her a bit more x
I started my lo on baby rice and porridge from 12 weeks as I was in the same situation he only took 5 oz of milk no more and was still hungry. I say do what you feel is right for your baby ☺
I can't take it anymore! Haley (yes my 1mth old and no I wasn't able to go through this "joy" of nursing my older daughter, Molly) has been screaming non stop for 6hrs! All she wants to do is eat and I can't have her attached to me all day, everyday! She has wanted to eat every hr on the hr for the past 3hrs! I put her in her room so I don't scream at her but I just can't take it!
I just read a girls post on here talking about how her stomach has grown so much & she feels so pregnant and she's already super swollen everywhere and her back is killing her.
she also said she was 5 weeks pregnant. 🙄
yes, five. I didn't even find out I was until I was almost 12 weeks 🙄
omg... I'm so depressed my child cries more than she doesnt..The only time she's not crying is when she's alsleep.. but she only sleeps 30 minutes each time. she won't sit in her carseat, her crib, pack n play , her swing, bouncer nothing!!! I have to hold ger 24/7 even when she's sleeping or else she will wake up. I'm tired I don't get any sleep nothing soothes her I don't even remember the last time I had enough time to bathe :'( I love her so much but this is so challenging
so serious question not regarding me but I have a friend who smoked weed up until her 32nd week pregnant and she's now 34 weeks how long would it take for her to clean her system and what should she do? all because she was getting sick and couldn't eat

Ok so there's this girl that won't leave my man alone... She's a crazy ex and I want to know what I should do.... It's like she does thing purposely to taunt me and I can't beat her ass bcuz I'm pregnant... No matter what he does our says to her she won't stop.... This is her...I swear y'all it's taking everything in me not to get her beat tf up!!?
The only thing I'd add is not all mothers know best. Some are uneducated or lack common sense (I don't mean that horribly) but I worked with a girl who didn't know simple daily tasks & needed a lot of guidance & support. Those kind of mothers rely heavily on these kinds of apps so I always say I think it's important to seek advice from at least one health professional, research weaning, then base your decision on the info you have. I weaned Morgan at 6months & Max at 4 & a half months so I also believe every baby is different. Also I'm not sure how save putting baby rice in their bottle is? Maybe in a bowl...
