I got IV pain meds, then got the epidural. neither hurt. the IV pain meds just made me sleepy, I still felt the contractions.

I didn't get an epi and I honestly wasn't that bad. It hurt like hell yes. Lol. But the second it was over, it was just amazing.

Good luck ! How exciting. Tough it out as much as u can. Ur body is designed to give birth. I held out till 6cm and got epidural. Towards the end though it was definitely intense. You want to be able to enjoy ur labor and not so much in so much pain cause you'll get tired and won't be able to push. To each their own tho. Good luck tho ma.
