Which parent claims there child for tax return? Both daddy and I are living together but not married. He makes more so idk if that makes a different or not.

Make your own breakfast! At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.

if you guys are together, like dating or whatever he should claim her because you will get more money back. but if he isn't going to share the money with you then you do it. @hannahbbtt

@hannahbbtt well that's a different situation then, that's between you guys. An not all of it is because of her, you get taxes back with or without her, but it's like an extra 2,000 for her I believe depending on what he or you make. so just depends if you can trust him,

Before my daughter was adopted by my husband, her biological father & I were ordered by the court to switch on & off. So I would claim her for even years (12', 14', 16' & so on) & he would claim her for odd years as long as he was caught up on child support, otherwise, I would still claim her. We never made it to that point because he wanted to relinquish rights a week after child support went into effect but that's how the court system set it up. Because the two of you are together you can talk about it & decide which would be most beneficial. You can essentially "quote" filing your taxes both ways. Like quote him filing with the baby & they quote you filing with the baby so you guys can have more to put towards the baby's savings if that is what you plan to do. But I would just make it clear to him that if he files to claim her then you guys are putting money into her savings account so it isn't an argument

@ryliannsmommy, yes I meant the extra money is for her but just was confused if one parent or both can claim her.
