Any other mommy's deal with people judging your parenting for having a smaller baby? I was mom shamed at the wic office for my daughter only weighing 12 lbs at her 6 month check up... yet she was 5 lbs when she was born. She was in the 5th percentile when she was born and she's healthy, just small. 😞

I've dealt with this for 2 years. My son was 5lbs at birth and he's always been in the 5th percentile for weight. He's a picky eater.. he's going on 3 and he's only 26lbs..

yes! my son was born 6lbs 4.5 oz. he always eats sooo much. And now even at almost 2 years old, he's not underweight but lower than they want him. he drinks pediature (can't spell) and eats all the time. he is also VERY active. but people hear his weight and freak out. but he's also short for his age. I've done everything I can to get his weight up. but I can't force him to eat when he's not hungry.

My son was a big baby at 8lbs 6.7oz and now he's only 11lbs 7oz. At 4 months. He's a little behind on his weight but he's tall and his doctor even said he will probably be tall and thin. She wasn't highly concerned but she wants him to go on a high calorie formula to help him put on some weight. They better not judge me when I go Friday. I can't help that my child is small. He is breastfed but majority of the time I think he falls asleep or uses me as a pacifier than he does eat.

@zombiemama @allyk.xmommy people see me out with my daughter sometimes and they would assume she's a new baby. 😩 I'm tired of explaining that she's not, she's just small. we can't help it that we just have small babies.

@beanieboo, yes! Always. I've never had a problem for formula feeding, but if they felt my baby was eating too much or not enough... like I can't make them be more hungry or less hungry. Medically I can understand wanting to do things by the book, but they need to realize every. Hold is different.

People mom shamed me for the same reason with my first she was born 2.7 lbs and her first year of life she battled with gaining weight people were so quick to judge without knowing the facts

@missjess I can't stand the woman I have to see every time at the wic office. she's always given me a hard time. my daughters doctor however said that she's on her growing curve just like she should be. so I'm not sure what her issue is. sometimes you gotta switch formulas and it's a bunch of trial and error until we figure out what works. my daughter was 5 lbs when she was born and at her 4 month check up she was only 10 lbs. she's growing right on track but the wic office goes by average weight I'm assuming.. not her individual weight. 😒

I get people saying my baby is to big for her age 🖕🏾🖕🏾🖕🏾🖕🏾 them

@connieb23 thank you!! it's hard to explain this to the lady at the wic office. she wanted to go by the weight of an average baby, and compare my baby to that weight... and that's fine. but she should at least take her birth weight into consideration.

@amaperalta03 that's the struggle seriously. people don't put themselves in our shoes so to speak. having a smaller baby just means they have more weight to gain. I'm seriously considering switching which wic office I go to so I don't have to deal with this lady. 😩

@nelly1991 someone seems to always have something to say. either our babies are too big or too small. ugh. why can't people just mind their own business? smh.

@jessicarose0602, I don't know my daughter was 3 months @13lbs and the walk in daughter was like oh she too big ummm no she is not she is healthy

Ugh that's annoying. The girls at my WIC office are really nice and wouldn't be afraid to tell them what's up if they weren't. They probably do go based off an average but every baby is different and grows at their own speed. My child actually is a bit under his weight of the growth curve. But as long as his doctor doesn't think it's a major issue that's all I care about. We feed and take care of our children! We can't force them to eat anymore than they do. That's why I'm supplementing with formula to help him gain. People are just so damn judgemental when they know nothing about what they are judging.

exactly!! they don't put themselves in our shoes.. I seriously pulled out the preemie size onesie today that my daughter wore from the hospital and it was even big on her when she came home in it. it's amazing to see how much she's changed in six months. and ultimately if your little man's doctor is fine with his weight gain, that's what matters!! I'm glad the ladies at your wic office are super nice! that's one less thing you have to worry about. ☺ @missjess

@jessicarose0602, yeah everyone always thinks my son is at least a year younger than he is because of his build. But his dad is the same way. Tall and lanky..

yep my fiance is the same way!! he's almost 6 ft tall and only weighs like 150. I think she's taking after him. @zombiemama

people are definetly harsh. but I know how much my son eats. And he tell me when he's hungry. And I always give him snacks when he doesn't ask. he just has a fast metabolism. And he is always on the move. he doesn't even nap anymore. he's definently going through some kind of growth spurt right now though bc he has started to eat A LOT more. this morning he had cereal, banana, 2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast compared to his 1 piece of toast and 1 egg and half of banana. along with his milk and pediature.
