I've been trying to apply to the NPWA (national police wives association) because lately I've been thinking A LOT about, what if something tragic happened to Alex while he was on duty. Mostly thinking this because I would need to figure out something for the sake of Edith. Financially, I would be screwed if I was on my own (also why I'm finishing up the little bit of school I have left). I hate that it's something that's in the back of my mind, but that's the reality of it all.

does he recieve life insurance through his job? I know with my husband being military we have the option to have a life insurance policy that gets automatically taken out of his check. it's nice to have just incase the worst does happen so we will be taken care of

My husband is a firefighter and his union has a widows and orphans fund. He also carries plenty of life insurance--he has a policy for on duty injury or death and another for supplemental insurance.

@kmharr3, @ciraclesmiracle, He has a fantastic life insurance plan he just signed up for before Edith was born. I honestly forgot about that. So I guess I wouldn't be totally screwed and how does one prepare for anything like that anyways ugh

prepare for death? talk about his wishes and your wishes if you were to pass. do you want a big funeral? do you guys have a will just incase you were to go together? who would the kids go to? who would get your things? these are hard questions but it's best to be prepared just incase.

@snozzberries, mentally? You can't. Just don't make yourself crazy thinking about it. My husband works for one of the busiest departments in the world--and his station is in the middle of south central Los Angeles--I could make myself sick with worry.

@kmharr3, advice is really good. All you can do is make sure your affairs are in order--you have a will, insurance and you know his wishes. And try not to stress, but cause 99% he will live a good long life and you guys will retire next to a lake!

Yeah, I've just been worrying a lot more lately than I used to. Mostly because he's been encountering a lot of criminals with guns on them. I truly think my new birth control I'm on is making me so emotional too lol almost cried reading the book Cordelia to Edith @ciraclesmiracle
