Food for thought: Hospital gowns, everyone has worn one or will wear one. I found out from both hospitals I delivered at that the gowns are shared, not just with other mothers, but on all levels of the hospital. So I could be giving life in a gown someone died in?
I bought a night gown a size or two bigger, cut a slit up the back and sewn a seam, followed by ribbons to tie in place. I made to one for labor and delivery and one for the following day. Spent $20 total!

@mariagambill, Your welcome. I was going to buy one off the internet and the cheapest I could find was 50-60$.
I got so many compliments at the hospital with this gown and they were shocked to know it was a $10 night gown from Sears!

@mommylovesson, Sears and JC Penny had the night gowns like this. I'm sure you could also find them at Walmart too! 😉

I bought hospital gowns for that exact reason. I've signed up for so many different things that I get coupons constantly. Used some to purchase two gowns. If I have to throw them out I don't care but I would prefer to wash it and use it for my second baby. They are most likely going to get very dirty:) love the idea of making one!! Just make sure they can access your back and front!

@ashley2371, I made it just like a gown I cut a slit in the back and sewn a seam and attached ribbon. I even did slits at the shoulder for nursing too.
I'll be making another set for baby #3 , I threw away the first set I made due to how inexpensive they were!

@ashley2371, I worked 40hrs each week til I had my son, when I was home I was overly bored. My mother bought me a sewing machine the yr prior, so I just self taught myself. I made, burp clothes, bibs, potato sack dresses, and even re fabricated his car seat.
