So I'm 3 cm dilated but I never had the contractions... How do I know when I'm in labor if I'm not in pain?

My water broke with my second at 11 pm and I never got any contractions until the next day 3 hrs before I had her. They weren't bad either I just opted for the epi because my first labor was so intense.
Time them. Once they're less than 5 minutes apart your in active labor.

Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
@brownsugarluv I also really scared about my water breaking because I don't want to mistake it for urine.
