11 months. my now 1 year old is such a brat. we didnt do the butt we do the hand and that is not helping at all. He hits us right back.

We have to raise our voice a little

Well we started popping her on the hands but it wasn't doing anything. So we've popped her on the butt a few times and that didn't even sink in. It just made her cry for a minute and then she went right back to doing it. I think it's sinking in a little but because now whenever we raise or voice or get stern and say no she starts fussing. We just want to teach her early so she won't get hurt as much. It just breaks my heart hearing her cry and I want to pick her up and comfort her but I know that'll be counter productive, @andrewmommy

@raquely I mean I agree with spanking children. I was spanked as a child and grew up to be a respectful young woman. I hate popping her because it breaks my heart, but it is better than her not listening and getting hurt.

It wasn't until my son was 3 years old because I felt by then he could understand punishment, and understand things being explained to him and learn punishment vs hurting to cause pain. If that makes sense. We tried every other option with him. Time out. Taking toys away. Talking to him. Swatting on his hand. Nothing worked. I rarely swat him now. He's 5 and I think he understands everything.

its okay and yeah my son tends to run to my mom or someone when I pop his hand. its not sinking in either with him. but just like his dad said earlier their at the age their learning how to hit and throw things at people. their babies so we cant really get mad for them learning but I agree teaching them now will prevent fights or stuff at school.
