Having sex to induce labor isn't necessarily a proven fact, but there's good reason to believe the theory might work. "Having an orgasm may help to stimulate your womb (uterus) into action. Having sex can trigger the release of oxytocin, a hormone that helps your contractions. Semen may even help to soften, or ripen, the neck of your womb (cervix), ready for it to open when labour starts."

The increase of oxytocin is also why some people choose to kiss their partner during labor to decrease the pains of labor as well.
