I understand girl! Sometimes we just have to do what's right for the kids despite our feelings! Maybe just go through the court and see what they will put his payments as; if you decide to go your separate ways then you can do a parenting plan too and ask that he help you with insurance and the baby's extra expenses which should hopefully alleviate some of your stress.
@angelmama12, yea we have that in Texas but I need my own place, just don't like having the government paying for everything if I have a job. It's so hard I know we would be better in our own place but he still wants us to live with his mom. I'm just not happy with him or love him like I used to
You gotta do what you gotta do girl! You can go and file straight through the courts or I know depending on your situation, if you need state assistance (cash, food etc) then human services will go after the father on your behalf. Here in Colorado we have something called TANF (temporary aid for needy families) and it's cash assistance for living expenses and they just automatically go after the father if there's no current order. It just depends on your specific situation which route you choose to go.
My oldest son is on child support (doesn't mean he actually pays) but I think it may depend on where you live. Is the father on the birth certificate? If not, you will probably need to start with a paternity test.
