Eva's been waking up throughout the night recently. She's slept through the night since she was 2 months old! She's almost 5 months now & im pretty sure it's just a regression. Momma's who have done the cry it out method, do I just let her cry? Or do I go get her? She's not possibly hungry. She ate & I laid her down an hour ago. I'm exhausted. I don't want to let her cry it out but I feel like it's the only option! Nothing else is working.

I did the cry it out method. mainly because that's the only thing I could do but yeah you just let her cry she'll pass out eventually.

How long though? I don't want her to be crying forever. Especially since it's such a horrible cry. @jgruenwald,

honestly mine cried for about an hour to an hour and a half before she passed out. sounds horrible I know but I was bottle breaking and she wouldn't take anything else she's never liked a Binky or her thumbs.

Sounds like colic ☹️ Have you tried gripe water? It seemed to work for my nephew during that stage.

Yes we've used gripe water quite often! She's not crying like she's in pain. If I pick her up she's totally okay. She just wants to be held & is fighting sleep. @lissakay,

She could be teething. She's also close to that age where they start having separation anxiety and that can wake them up at night and that would explain why she settles down as soon as you grab her.

If you're going to do the cry it out method, please make sure you research it before attempting. Some people think you just plop your kid in a crib and let them cry until they are too exhausted to cry anymore.

I've obviously done my research. I was just asking for opinions.. @ciraclesmiracle,

Poor thing! There's this video of a doctor showing how to comfort babies by holding them in a certain position. Like crossing their arms and holding them in a 45 degree angle. Im not sure if it will help baby fall asleep but I've seen it work every time for a fussy baby! @evasmommy626,

@evasmommy626, you asked if you should "just let her cry", and that's not how CIO works, which is why I sent you the links. I put my son down and if he "fusses" I'll leave him be for a few minutes, but if the fussing turns to real crying I go pick him up and hold him until he stops crying. If you allow your baby to cry and cry it only teaches them that their needs are not going to be met and they eventually give up crying out of exhaustion and learn not to cry out of hopelessness.

I don't really have to explain myself to you but I'm gonna let you know that I have read up on crying it out. & I obviously would not let her sit & cry for 30 minutes. @ciraclesmiracle,
