It's a long process, you have to meet certain criteria. It works great if you follow a strict diet and make the life changes necessary, you have to meet medical necessity to get it paid for by insurance.

What beebaby said is true. It's not just a quick fix kind of thing. And it's very expensive.

Most bypass patients end up gaining back more than what they originally lost in the first five years after surgery.

My MIL had it done almost 20 years ago and she's still battling with the whole thing. She's had to get multiple surgeries to "refix" her stomach. She just got it fixed again in November and she went septic and ended up in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. Since she's had it she hasn't really even lost any weight. I'm sure it's great for some but it wasn't a good fit for her.

My MIL got it now she's dead . She also had to get multiple surgeries after & they just couldn't get it right . End up messing up her intestines and kidneys and she died in the hospital

@jc2015 you did right? I was in line for it but I got pregnant. I'm not sure I want to go through with the surgery after the baby. It's a lot of pressure I think. My friend is having it done on the 20th and I know lots of people who had it done.

I had the gastric bypass surgery, the only complication I had after was I needed my gallbladder removed, (which they usually do during the bypass surgery)

I went from 402 pounds to 167 and purposely gained weight to 200 pounds because I thought I looked too skinny being 167, now from pregnancy I'm 235.

I would definitely recommend it, it's hard work, it's emotionally draining at some points, but for me it was so worth it.

I have hypoglycemic episodes because of it if I don't eat enough during the day but that's a small price to pay, it also is how I found out that I had endometriosis so it really saved my life.

in my opinion, you could have really great results just be sure to look very deeply into the person who is doing your surgery, ask millions if questions, mostly about how their other patients did, how long he/she has been doing the surgery, etc.

I had the gastric sleeve done, as did my husband. He lost 120lbs and his sleep apnea is gone. I lost 75 and all my illnesses and joint issues are resolved.

It's a life style change, and a lot of work. It can be draining at times, but once you get into a routine and know what your body and mind need, it's a life changer
