Do you really need to stay at home and only go out when necessary for 6 weeks after giving birth? I don't mind cause I feel so much better being at home with baby but I'm just wondering

Nope! My doctor and my sons doctor actually recommended I take him out of the house as soon as I was feeling up to it. Taking them out of the house helps strengthen their immune systems so they are much less likely to end up sick later on! Ive also heard its good to take them out because if you dont put them in their car seats enough that they could become fearful of being in the car and car seat since they arent used to it. Im not sure if its true or not but we take our son (2months old now) out all the time and he absolutely loves his car seat and the car! So it might be true!

Its good for you to get out and walking around too. Helps your body heal up a little faster. I had to run around like crazy for the first two weeks of my sons life because he needed medical testing all the time for jaundice. And i felt so much better then, than when they had me stuck in the hospital room for 3 days.

Just be careful about taking baby to places with lots of people--the mall, events, the grocery store, etc--because lots of people=lots of germs. But fresh air and stimulation of seeing new sights, smelling new smells and hearing new things are very good for baby. I took my son out for a lot of walks for his first couple months.

@rari, how did the jaundice go away my baby has it and doesn't get rid of it

It will go away by itself by 3months i think my doctor said. But its a good idea to put your little one in the sunlight for a little while each day because the vitamins in the sunlight that they get helps keep the bilirubin levels down. That and make sure your baby is eating enough so they have regular diapers. Pooping helps them get rid of the excess vitamin that causes the jaundice!

Yeah I'm doing that, I hate them poking her all the time for blood tests.. hopefully it goes away fast @rari,

Honestly I started taking my baby out at 5 days old and she was fine and didn't get sick. (She also had jaundice at birth)

What did you do for the jaundice @autumnsmomma125,
Lauren🖤·
We put her in the sun and fed her and hoped she peed and pooped a lot to clear her system. There's not much else you can do except wait and pray it goes away.💕 it took like a week or two for my baby girls to clear up.

I started taking my baby out at like 2-3 weeks and I went on a road trip when he was a month old and my son also had jaundice
