I've heard horrible things about epidurals... and I know that's a long ways away for me, but just wanted to here others opinions and stories on getting it why ornwhy not. I do plan to try and do this all naturally.. however when push comes to shove I don't know if I'll be able to do that!

when I was pregnant with my daughter I said I wanted to do all natural, I ended up getting the Epidural because of my contractions plus a low pain tolerence. my Epidural worked perfectly.

@butterfli_luv, they didn't have a limit on when I could. They just whenever I was ready and didn't matter how dilated I was, but every hospital is different

My experience was amazing. Although I did have lower back pain for a couple months, but that's because you get a long ass needle shoved into you lol so obviously it'll be sore for a while. I was in labor for 16 hours before getting it, I lied on my side and closed my eyes and relaxed . First they did a numbing shot which stung, then they did the rest. It was uncomfortable and the only pain I got was an electric shock in my left foot (which is normal, they purposely hit a nerve to make sure it's in the right spot) after that I was done! It worked for about 10 hours, (had my baby within 8 hours and if wore off a couple hours later) the only thing that sucked was when I sat up. The epi works with gravity so when I sat up it went to my legs and I could feel my upper body again. Once I was laying back down it went to my upper body again, and I didn't feel my son come out, didn't feel them do the episiotomy, didn't feel them stitch me up. The only down side was once it wore off, every pain hit all at once and I was miserable! And my lower back was sore for a couple months but now I'm back to normal (:

I had an epidural with my first but it stopped working around 8 cm and it was pretty bad to be thrown into that pain all of a sudden.. I think my next baby will be done without the epidural
