Is it normal to have really bad stinging and burning where my stitches are? had a natural birth but had to get alot of stitches...everytime I walk it stings and burns like hell and even sitting I feel like someone is burning me 😭😭😭
@winterbaby95, they probably did but I lost alot of blood and stuff so don't remember much of the hours after except spending time with the baby 😂😂xxx
@stephyb95 Wiping can irritate/pull the stitches hun :) so maybe that's why you are in some pain :) Putting an ice pack down there is also relieving :) After the shower...just allow yourself to air dry down there. My midwife said it's good to give the stitches air time xxx
@stephyb95 OH wow...didnt the nurses/midwives as hospital tell you not to wipe?? it's the first thing they told me...when I got up to go to the loo xx
@winterbaby95, @sara-lou @alexmcatamney we don't have a bath so that's out the window 😂 I've been wiping maybe that's part of the problem..I'll pat dry, hopefully everything is fine I'm just paranoid haha..thank you girls!xxx
Sit in a hot bath for an hour......Roll up a towel or blanket into a ring and sit in that :) it will take the pressure/weight of the stitches :) When going to the loo...pat dry..dont wipe xx
I had to sit on ice packs for a couple days as I couldn't sit on my bottom at all was very painful. And did sting for a few days (can't rever exactly how many) when I peed
Yeh 3days you'll still be very sore. Has a midwife been over to see you yet? They should be able to tell if all is healing OK. I had a 3rd degree tear both times & got checked regularly even at my 6weeks check as well. Give it a few more days/ a week or if your worried speak to your midwife.
I had warm salt water baths it soothes it so much and it heeled really quickly also try sitting on a rubber ring an inflatable one that helped me 😊 xx
@stephyb95, aww I'm sorry, usually they can only issue with mine was it was eating me from the inside out and when I went up to hospital I looked fine and it was only that my SATs were so scarey that they new something was seriously wrong, I didn't mean to scare you just after how close I came to being even more ill I'm so scared incase it happens to anyone else because I nearly didn't go to hospital and even when I rang before going up they tried to fob me off xx
@sara-lou, yeah it's when I pee or when I go to sit down its horrible!! @alexmcatamney baby was born on the 1st, so been three days..wouldn't say it's worse but definitely still as bad, feel like I'm ripping myself apart when I sit on the edge of the couch to get up or if I sit directly on the area it's like I'm sitting on a fire...You've totally freaked me out haha, can you tell visually that something is wrong? e.g. if my midwife checked me over would she know just from looking that something was wrong?xx
How many days pp are you? Does it feel worse than whenever you were still in hospital? If it feels worse ring your maternity unit and go get checked, after I had my lo I got home the next day and just felt a bit battered and bruised then the next night I was crying I was in so much pain and could barely walk, turns out I had contracted Strep C and it was eating litterslly through my stitches, I had to be on iv antibiotics and iv painkiller aswell as pethidine injections constantly for a week then I was taken to theatre to be restitched and they said if I hadve left it much longer I could've died, not saying that's what yours is but the pain your describing is the same as what mine was like so be best to get checked :) xx
Yeh the first day or 2. Especially when you need to pee. It's not particularly comfortable for a while after giving birth. The midwife will check stitches are OK & your healing OK, either at the hospital or once your home.
ugh ! since I had ripped I had to get stitches. And it's so uncomfortable!! my private area burns and itches so bad cuz these damn stitches 😢😢😢 I can't even sit down it hurts and so uncomfortable 😢 when will it heal and not hurt anymore ?!
Has anyone had this acid like shit come up to their throat? And it burns like hell .. Like, wtf is that ?? And how do I make it stawwwpppp !! 😭😩
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
Anyone who had to get stitched up after birth how long did it take afterwards to stop hurting? :( like I can't do anything without it hurting and it burns so bad when I pee
Ladies who've had vaginal stitches:
What's the best way to ease the pain/sting when and after weeing😭
paracetamol and ibrufopen alternatively every 2 hours helped me hun. also try putting a pad in the fridge or freezer and then wearing it it acts like a ice pack. also like @winterbaby95 said dab or pat dry don't wipe. it could get it all infected.
I didn't have a bath either and I had stitches after my episiotomy and I found standing in the shower with the water hitting my lower back took some of the edge off the pain and then did the above. if it gets any worse talk to your midwife and then they can check things for you :-)
BTW congratulations, I missed your post about having him. he's beautiful xx
