I finally gave birth today morning to my first daughter I. had epidural and had to get catheter and I feel so bad walking around during the hospital with bag of wee :(. Plus it's so uncomfortable even to take your baby up to fed or just to hold her cos your hand is busy with that catheter. how long am I going to have it ?
Congratulations hun! I hated the catheter...couldn't wait for it to be taken out! also had a vaginal pack...for the bleeding...was so uncomfortable...the pressure was annoying me...so much relief when it was taken out xxx
how do u find it with epidural?? I want to have it as well I even put it in my birth plan. What would ur comments will be on having epidural. x
Ask them and they can give u the one that straps too ur leg than u won't have to hold it
i had mine in for 6 hrs post delivery and was told if i didnt wee within 2 hrs theyd put another in so i drank loads and peed within half an hour of them taking it out x
They normally keep it in until your drinking plenty because if anything happens they need it there so they can act quickly just keep mobile and keep drinking as much as you can then speak to one of the midwifes about it. Some hospitals like you to have them in at least 24 hours x
They probably won't. What I learned from being in hospital was if you want something you have to ask for it. They may say you need it in for so many hours etc. But no harm in speaking up & asking to have it out. I asked & they said I could once I was able to be walking around etc so once I was I asked them again & they took it out.
Congratulations, their horrible and so uncomfortable I had mines in a couple of days before they took it out Xx
I'm already walking around and they still haven't mentioned anything about taking it off.. @sara-lou
@myfirstbaby2016, I supposed to have birthing pool with gas and air but after my water broke at 00:30am on Sunday and give birth on Wed 2.47am I was so tired with all the pain and no changes in dilation and contraction I asked if I can get epidural as I didn't have any more power I was like drunk no power even to breath. I loved how I felt on epidural haven't feel much of contraction and the whole time went so fast so I'm so glad I listen to my husband to take epidural:). now I have beautiful daughter and not much painful memories about giving birth it's just the time before the epidural that took so much of my power I felt like I want to give up that's how bad it was when my water broke.
