So last week I took my son to the emergency room with my mom. While we are sitting in the waiting room waiting to be called an young guy gets discharged and comes and sits near us. His whole head is is wrapped up in ace bandage. Kind of resembling a mummy. So I'm wondering what happen to him. Maybe 30 mins past and he ask me and my mom our race. We get belizean a lot because of our skin color. So she tells him we are Cuban. And then she proceeds to talk to him in Spanish. Asking him what happen to him. He tells her that he was walking to the library and some kids came and jumped him from behind. And they hit him in the head with objects. As soon as he told her that my heart just dropped and I felt so bad for him. You could look at him at tell he was the kind of person that keeps to his self. You could also tell that he was a little mentally slow. So he proceeds to tell my mom how his dad just went to jail and now he's homeless. So he's waiting for the social worker to come in the morning to help him. Mind you it's maybe 9pm. So he has to wait in that cold waiting room all the way to the morning. Hearing that I just felt I had to do something to make him feel more comfortable. So I went to my car and gave him some of my boyfriends sweat pants a tshirt and a blanket. When I came back in and gave it to him his whole face lit up. I then asked him if he was hungry and if he had any money . He told us yes he was hungry but didn't have any money. So we went to the vending machine and bought him some chips and a water. When me and my mom left the hospital I was telling her mom I just fee so bad for him. Should we buy him dinner? So we went to jack in the box and got him a burger. Then went to 7/11 and got him some more water and snacks. We took it back to him at the hospital. When we gave it to him he broke down in tears and gave us a million thank yous. It felt really good being able to give back. But he's been on my mind so heavy these past couple of days . Wondering if he's alright and did the social worker actually come to help him.
