I had one on my due date, midwife couldn't feel my cervix, baby came 9 days later

Best thing ever! I never wanted to be induced, I had a sweep on the Tuesday morning 9am by Thursday morning 3am I was in labour. I was due to be induced on the Friday. I'm glad I had the sweep as labour started naturally not forced.

I am getting my sweep done on Thursday they offered me so I took the offer. I heard good and bad about it but if it will help to speed up things then why now. 😊 but everyone should make they own decisions so follow ur heart and head what ever u feel is right for u do it. Xx

I had a sweep baby came 2 days later they work for some people don't for others☺ I'd take one again if offered with my next baby xx

sorry babes I don't want to put you off or scare you! I will never know for sure if sweeps were reason for us being ill, at the end of the day they wouldn't do them if they were that dangerous I suppose. and you're 40 weeks so that's good too :) xx

I think sweeps at 40 weeks or over are ok to have but hospital started my sweeps at 37 weeks every week and my friend is convinced that's what made me and my baby infected, I ended up with septicemia and was in intensive care for almost 24 hours after my section. My friend seems to think it was because they gave me so many sweeps so early on and also it got baby stressed as he pooed inside me. I don't know hun, but if I was to have another baby, I don't think I'd have a sweep. baby will come when he/she is ready. Also if it's your first, hormone drip isn't as bad as you think if you have to be induced. I had to have it to speed things up, yeah it hurts but you deal with it. I have nothing to compare too tbough as this was my first xxx

I had 3 and was told it helps speeds up things if having to be induced but for me that didn't happen. I think next time round I'm not going to bother. but as other people say only works if babies ready ☺

You may as well have one if you have the choice. It's very uncomfortable but the pain only lasts while you're having the sweep. The sweep will only work if baby's ready to come out (didn't work in my case) so you may as well give it a go! :) xx

@missy84 I've heard being induced isn't anymore painful...its just that contractions tend to be faster:) after my sweep...I think it had the same effect as induction...as my contractions came so quickly...felt like there was no break between them...probably because I went from 1cm-8cm...But after 8cms...they went back to normal xxx

I had 3 sweeps and personally i wouldn't bother, I suppose everyone is different but didn't help with me xx @missy84

i had a sweep at 38 weeks which was on a Tuesday and my contraction started on wednesday n thrusday i was in labour... Sweep was to painful 😭 other than that it was all worth it in the end @missy84

@sophie94x, oh lordy thought that would be the case. Maybe I'll ask her to do that then make a decision based on what she finds lol x

@mother_of_humans, I'm glad I know the horror stories as well as the good ones lol. It's not that has put me off but everyone around me saying that I'm rushing baby to come out 😑. She's cooked so I don't see the problem.

I don't think I could wait 2 weeks this week is dragging as it is 😰 x

if youre not dilated i wouldnt bother..but if youre already dilated then its worth it imo x

@mother_of_humans, I was all up for having one but now I'm not sure I want to 🙈. I'm scared if I don't I'll have to be induced n the pain will be 100x worse 😂 x
