Am I over reacting?? Basically my partners mother & his sister wanted to plan my baby shower ( which is tomorrow ) So his mum said she would get everything like the cake decorations food etc.. so my mum offered to pay half as my partners mother said it would probably come to about £35-40 max each.. baring in mind the venue was free. My partners mother text me 2 days ago asking if it was still ok for my mum to go half and asked if my dad would aswell ( when my mum and dad aren't together & my dad isn't even going!!) and she asked for £40 off my mum & £40 off my dad.. so I thought that she must have spent £80 herself and then just wanted my family to pay the other £80.. my cake is £35 which I think is crazy price.. besides the point me and my partners sister was talking about it yesterday and I said " your mothers spent a lot on the baby shower" and she said " I know you know what she's like she goes over the top.. she's using your mums £40 for the cake & pack of balloons and your dads £40 for the food & then she's spent £40 on decorations & bits and bobs" so that basically means she's spent £40 and my family have to spend £80??? I'm not really happy with it as she insisted that she planned the baby shower and that it was only going to be £35 off my mother.. I don't really think it's fair to be honest as my partners coming to the baby shower so it's just as much my baby shower as it is her sons?? Personally I think she should have asked before she spent!!? Am I over reacting?!
@megz, @charlie_j good I'm glad I didn't think I was being stupid, thing is I can't tell her to cut the costs because she's already bought everything 😩 and thing is she can take things so to heart and I'll look ungrateful but the thing is she does it over the top to make herself look wonderful 🙄🙄
I also agree with you. My experience is that these things can be sorted with a simple convo. I would just tell her that you don't feel comfortable asking your dad for the money, however your mum will still split the cost as agreed. £40 or £35 is upto you and mum. Then make suggestions to cut costs, less balloons etc. Have a great time!
I hate my generation sometimes ?
Today was my nieces baby shower, which went great. She got so much which amazing since she's been working 2 jobs trying to save up for the unpaid leave she'll have to take from work. Anyways I was talking to one of the ladies there since my son and her daughter were playing together. I asked her what her daughters name was, she said it was Layla. I told her that's a really pretty name and asked her if she was a Clapton fan and if she was named after the song. Th...
Do you ladies think I’m a bad person if I ask my sister in law to be one of my birth partners instead of my mum?
I begged my mum to be at the birth of Harper and she refused because she thought it should just be me and my partner but I wanted her there... but I don’t want to ask her to be at this birth for the fact she said no when I asked her to be at Harper’s birth so why should she be at this baby’s birth?
Am I wrong in asking my sister in law?
I need to ask someone this have you literally regret having a child with someone. I love my daughter with all my heart but I really regret ever being with her dad.
Girls am I wrong? I asked my SIL to be one of my birth partners but she hasn’t bothered to message or see us since unless we message first or go see her. Am I wrong in not wanting her there now?
My mother in law wants to throw me a baby shower. I hate to sound ungrateful but I want to throw my own with my mom too. We've already been looking at cakes and talking about a park shower. I feel like if we tell my mother in law we want two different showers so she can throw one she'll get upset. I just want to be apart of the planning and picking themes and stuff and it just seems like she wants to do her own thing. She's been Talking to my husband about it and asking him if we'll pay for the ...
tell her that your dad can't put it anything and also he won't be coming
