I've been thinking that I might want to try to have this baby without pain medicine. With my son I had an epidural, but it didnt start to work until right before he was born, so i felt pretty much all of the contractions just not him coming out.. Those of you that have had labor without medicine, was it as bad as everyone makes it out to be? Would you do it again? I want to, but I'm scared..
I got to the hospital at 10 cm, so I didn't have time for drugs even if I wanted them. I didn't even have time to check in, lol
Umm, probably not if baby is in a good position. you obviously know which muscles to use. I say go for no meds and if you need something, they can give iv drugs just to take the edge off. Mine was 2 hours, but a very intense 2 hours.
@sam.g, i pushed for like 10 minutes with my son so I might have unreal expectations of labor. He came so fast that the doctor couldn't even make it to the room and a midwife had to deliver. I'm worried I might be pushing for hours with this baby. 😣
mine was really short, so maybe not the best point of reference, but pushing hurt less than contractions during transition. I labored for 2 hours and pushed for 20 minutes.
@babymaciesmomma, @cubanese @babyvicky2016 thank you for answering. I think my pain tolereance is about average but I dont think I'll really be able to tell until labor. SO and I are planning on this being our last baby so I really would like to try doing everything natural. I'm just worried that if I decide to try and the pain is too bad for me that I wont be able to get any pain relief and that really scares me. 😓
it was terrible but I'm glad I didn't get it. once you start pushing it relieves aloof the pain
Feel free to message me with any specific questions too, I'll be happy to answer any and all, no matter how graphic.
I have been thinking the same, but this is gonna be my 4th kid. I have the hardest time with the pain of the contractions.
Here's the thing. I did natural with Macie. And she was face up which apparently makes it twice as painful. Yeah, it hurt, but the recovery was a lot easier than the recovery with my first when I had an epidural. That being said, even though it hurt, I'm planning on all natural again with my son. (If he flips, cause otherwise he'll be a C)
I didn't have anything when my daughter was born, hardly any pain at all but everyone is different
