How do doctors check if you are effaced? I got checked for dilation tuesday but he said my cervix was closed he didnt say if I was effaced or not. I'm a first time mom & first pregnancy so don't judge lmaooo

your cervix being closed means 0% they check the same time they check for dilation.
they told me when i went and they well umm ya know lol check the cervix that way too
i believe your doctor will check for efaced when you go back at the next appointment

37 weeks on Wednesday & i have my regular doctors apt. He hasn't, however, he has yet to check to see if I'm effacing at all. When did you girls start get checked?

I had a membrane sweep today. Before the sweep I was 3-4 dilated & 75% effaced.
Effacement is how thick the cervix is. You can be dilated 0cm but be effaced and visa versa
